Make Your Wedding More Special With Your Perfect Smile

THE PERFECT ADDITION TO ANY BEAUTIFUL BRIDE

A stunning smile on your wedding day is just as important as your wedding dress – it’s your most important accessory! It completes your look fantastically and you will be able to see how wonderful you looked on this big day for years to come.

Cosmetic dentistry can help to create a wonderful smile for your big day increasing your confidence and self-esteem. You will be able to smile confidently in every photograph and really focus on enjoying the day rather than covering up your smile with your hand when you laugh.

Cosmetic smile improvements can be created from any of the following treatments:

  • Hygienist stain removal treatments. This is a perfect procedure if you have essentially good teeth but simply suffer from staining from food and drink. Your concern can easily be rectified in a single appointment. This is an ideal visit to brighten your smile several days before your wedding.
  • Teeth whitening. This is a simple treatment often carried out at home with a special teeth whitening kit. This should be done about three weeks before the “big day” for ideal results.
  • Cosmetic veneers. This treatment can be used to a beautiful smile in a single appointment with bonding techniques using tooth-colored materials. Alternatively, a stunning smile makeover can be created with more cosmetically enhanced porcelain veneers. This type of treatment takes about 4 weeks, so could be considered as an option a month before the wedding.
  • Orthodontic teeth straightening. If you have a few months still to go you can opt for a more conservative approach using inconspicuous braces or aligners to straighten any crooked teeth or to close spaces between teeth. This treatment can take from 4-9 months and can help restore your smile for the big day.
  • Enamel and/or gum reshaping. Sometimes a simple conservative approach that entails reshaping of your gums and teeth can have a huge impact on the resulting smile. This treatment could take about half an hour and could be carried out in conjunction with the hygiene visit. This treatment could be carried out a week before your dream day.

We can customize your treatment plan to suit your specific needs in terms of time, budget and choices of treatment. Let us help make your big day more memorable with a great smile that you can show off to all.

Special Wedding Packages are available for the bride & groom or mother & bride. Please call us for more information.

“You can now enjoy your special day, and have amazing photos to cherish,  rather than covering up your smile.”

How To Get A Dazzling Smile For Your Special Day

Let’s face it, getting married has to be one of the most important days in a girl’s life so it’s understandable that you want to look their best, after all you are the star of the show. Planning a wedding is a busy time what with sourcing a venue, sampling menus, choosing a photographer, buying your dress, and planning a honeymoon, and it’s easy to get caught up in all this activity and forget about an important part of you that will be on show – your teeth.

Arrange a dental at least few months before your wedding day

Visiting your dentist in Harrow prior to your wedding day should always be on your tick list of things to do. Arrange to have a check-up six months beforehand in case you need any treatment doing. We provide general dentistry as well as cosmetic dentistry in Harrow and offer a wide range of treatments and services. One of our most asked for treatments is teeth whitening which many people choose if they have a special event coming up.

Teeth whitening in Harrow

Sometimes a visit to the hygienist for a ‘clean and scrape’ will suffice to remove superficial stains and make your teeth feel and look nice and clean. Alternatively, your teeth may benefit from a professional teeth whitening treatment. Teeth are gently bleached a few shades lighter making your smile look more attractive and giving you renewed confidence. We can carry out the whitening at the clinic in an appointment which lasts about an hour or, if you prefer, you can take home a whitening kit which you’ll need to use for around 2 weeks to achieve the best results.

We should point out that it’s always advisable to visit your dentist first so that he can see whether you are a suitable candidate for teeth whitening. If you have any signs of tooth decay or gum disease then that will have to be treated first. Also, if you have crowns or front fillings then be aware that the materials used in these won’t whiten, so you may have to seek another option such as veneers. These are wafer thin layers of porcelain which fit over your entire tooth or teeth to disguise any stains, cracks, or other imperfections. They can be colour matched to your other teeth for a seamless appearance.

What makes a selfie-worthy smile?

Now more than ever, all eyes are on our smiles.

This is the selfie generation. We snap selfies everywhere we go, to show the world where we’ve been and who we’re with.

Our faces are everywhere online. Facebook. Instagram. Tinder. We are judged by complete strangers and people we barely know, with nothing more to go on than one snapshot of our lives. A status update. A profile photo.

We make decisions quickly. To follow or unfollow? Friend or unfriend? Swipe right or swipe left?

Want Great Selfies? Take Care of Your Teeth

Excellent dental care and good hygiene are essential for oral health. Dental care also keeps your teeth looking great. Routine care is a vital component of a terrific smile. There are also lots of cosmetic procedures your family dentist can provide to improve your smile.

  • Keep up with check-ups and cleanings every six months.
  • Professional whitening in your dentist’s office is the best way to achieve dramatic results. Whitening systems like take-home treatments that combine the stunning results of an in-clinic treatment with custom trays you take home for follow-up. Those take-home trays allow you to keep your teeth whiter longer and touch up at home as day-to-day staining happens.
  • Veneers can help if you’re hesitant to smile because of stained, chipped or badly-shaped teeth. They’re custom-made shells that cover the front side of your teeth, allowing you to have the size, shape and color of your dreams.
  • When your teeth have minor cosmetic issues such as a small chip or discoloration, dental bonding is an easy, relatively quick and affordable solution. By applying a tooth-colored composite resin (plastic) material to a tooth and hardening it with a light, the tooth receives restoration that protects the area from further damage and improves your smile and confidence.

Composite Bonding Dental

Cosmetic Bonding in Harrow

Improve Your Smile with Cosmetic Dental Bonding

Cosmetic Bonding is a procedure in which a tooth-coloured resin material (a durable plastic material) is applied and hardened with a special light, which ultimately “bonds” the material to the tooth to restore or improve person’s smile.

What is Cosmetic Bonding?

Cosmetic Bonding can be considered to fix the following dental issues:

  • To repair decayed teeth (composite resins are used to fill cavities)
  • To repair chipped or cracked teeth
  • To improve the appearance of discoloured teeth
  • To close spaces between teeth
  • To make teeth look longer
  • To change the shape of teeth
  • As a cosmetic alternative to amalgam fillings
  • To protect a portion of the tooth’s root that has been exposed when gums recede

Cosmetic Bonding Procedure

Cosmetic Bonding takes little to no preparation. Your Neem dentist will match the shade of your existing teeth to select a composite resin colour that will closely match the colour of your tooth.

There are two forms of Cosmetic Bonding: direct composite bonding and adhesive bonding

Direct Composite Bonding – This is the process where dentists use tooth-coloured composites white or natural-looking materials) to fill cavities, repair chips or cracks, close gaps between your teeth and build up the worn-down edges of teeth. The composite materials may also be directly applied and sculpted to the surfaces of teeth that show most prominently when you smile, for minimally invasive smile makeovers. In the dental world these are called direct composite veneers but generically known by most to be called “bonding.”

Adhesive Bonding – This is the process of attaching a restoration to a tooth. This method is commonly used for aesthetic crowns, porcelain veneers, bridges and inlays/onlays. After your Neem dentist has chosen a colour that matches the shade of your teeth, he/she will roughen the surface of the tooth using a gentle phosphoric acid solution. Soon after the roughing agent is removed, a liquid bonding agent is applied. The tooth-coloured putty-like resin is applied to the tooth, then moulded and smoothed until it’s in the desired shape. The material is then hardened with an ultraviolet curing light, and the previous step is repeated until the filing or direct composite veneer has reached its final shape. Your Neem dentist will then polish the material until it matches the sheen of the rest of the tooth surface.

Pros and Cons of Cosmetic Bonding

Pros – Cosmetic Bonding is one of the most common and least expensive of cosmetic dentistry procedures. It can usually be done in one short visit unless multiple teeth are involved. Another advantage to bonding is that compared to veneers and crowns, it requires little to no removal of tooth enamel. Most procedures involving dental bonding do not require anaesthesia.

Cons – The material used in dental bonding is not as strong as your real teeth, so biting on fingernails or chewing on pens can actually chip the material. Bonding only lasts a few years before it needs to be repaired and is not as strong as other restorative procedures, such as crowns, veneers, or fillings. It is also not as stain resistant as crowns.

Because there are some limitations to the restorative impacts that bonding can have, some dentists may view it as best suited for small cosmetic changes, for temporary correction of cosmetic defects, and for correction of teeth in areas of very low bite pressure (for example, front teeth). Your Neem dentist will be able to tell you if bonding is right for you or may make other recommendations relative to your personal conditions.

Non-Vital Front Tooth: What Should I Do Now? (Dental Treatment Options)

A non-vital, or what some people may refer to as a “dead”, front tooth can stand out as an eyesore and may even signal a dangerous dental infection. If you have a tooth that you suspect is non-vital, then you should get it looked at right away.

The sooner you schedule a consultation for a suspicious-looking tooth, the sooner you can get treatment that will save your smile.

What Makes a Tooth become ‘Non-Vital” and darken?

Teeth are living parts of your body. They have hollow pulp chambers on the inside that are filled with nerves and blood vessels. If the pulp chamber in a tooth is damaged by disease or trauma, it can trigger an infection in the nerve of the tooth. As the infection progresses, the nerve dies, and the pulp chamber darkens which leaves a bruise-like stain that shows through the tooth.

A disruption in tooth vitality can be caused by things like an untreated cavity, a dental abscess, or a sports injury that happened decades earlier.

Whether you can recall what may have caused you to have a non-vital front tooth or not, the next important step is to get it treated.

Signs of a Non-Vital Front Tooth

Non-vital teeth can present with any of the following symptoms:

  • Gray, brown, or black discoloration in part or all of the tooth
  • Bad breath
  • Bad taste in the mouth
  • Pain
  • Sensitivity

Pain and discoloration are the two main symptoms that your tooth may become non-vital. A tooth can go through this process slowly or suddenly, and the resulting discoloration and discomfort can likewise come on at a similar pace. It is, however, possible for a tooth to become non-vital without causing you any pain. This is why you should always discuss changes in tooth color with your dentist even if the tooth doesn’t hurt.

What are your options to treat the tooth and prevent it from falling out? Your tooth may qualify for one or more of the following procedures.

Root Canal

A root canal is a procedure in which the dentist removes the infected and inflamed nerve. The pulp chamber and root are cleaned out and filled with a material that seals out bacteria. This process relieves your tooth of pain and prevents the infection from spreading to your gums and other teeth in your mouth.

Your treatment doesn’t just end with a root canal, however. You’ll need some more help in restoring your tooth’s strength and natural color.

Bleaching

Most teeth whitening systems work by removing stains that settle into tooth enamel from the outside of your tooth. This doesn’t work for deteriorating teeth that are stained from the inside. Your tooth may respond well to an internal bleaching procedure that only dentists can provide. Internal bleaching lightens stains on non-vital teeth from the innermost layers.

The non-vital teeth whitening procedure:

In order to achieve satisfactory colour results for non-vital teeth, it can be necessary to bleach them from the inside out. Following a radiography examination, the dentist will place the whitening gel either in a tray or inside the back of the tooth. Many patients see the results of non-vital teeth whitening in a few days but achieving satisfactory results depends on a number of factors and more time may be required and more than one application. If the gel is placed within the tooth the access cavity will need to be sealed with a small composite filling on completion.

Dental Crown

Non-vital teeth are often very weak as a result of an injury or cavity. They become even more brittle after a root canal procedure. It’s very likely that your tooth will need a dental crown.

Crowns serve two purposes. First of all, they strengthen and protect weak teeth. Secondly, they completely cover up dark stains in tooth enamel that don’t come out with professional teeth bleaching procedures.

Your dental crown will be made from a beautiful ceramic material to imitate the color and texture of natural teeth. With a dental “cap” on your non-vital front tooth, you can smile with confidence again.

Dental Composite Bonding (Cosmetic) | Neem Dental Clinic | Harrow

Bonding is usually used for filling chips, fractures or gaps between teeth, or for fixing discolouration. A composite resin is attached to a tooth and shaped to restore its original appearance. The colour of the resin is matched to your teeth, so it will appear as though it is a natural part of the tooth.

Composite bonding can help you achieve a smile you’re happier with. Composite bonding can be a cheaper alternative to crowns or veneers. It’s also a less invasive process and can be completed in just one appointment. And with regular brushing and good oral hygiene, your composite bonds should last for years.
