So, you too can have that dentist clean feeling and learn how to make good oral hygiene part of your daily routine.

BENEFITS OF PROFESSIONAL TEETH CLEANING?

Seeing a dental hygienist for professional teeth cleaning is the foundation of a beautiful and healthy smile.  Our aim is for you to be disease free and understand that maintenance is key. It will help you keep your teeth for longer, in a better condition and looking good.

As well as having your teeth cleaned, the condition of your gums will be assessed and we can discuss any issues you have such as:

  • Bleeding gums
  • Bad breath
  • Gaps developing between teeth
  • Food getting trapped between teeth
  • Persistent infections
  • Swellings

Unfortunately, some people have advanced gum disease, where they lose the bone supporting their teeth. We have special techniques in place to thoroughly clean under the gum in a gentle manner and give bespoke advice to you on how to maintain it and promote healing.

While gum disease can never be reversed, it can be brought under control and maintained with care and attention.

Remove Teeth Stains With Our Deep Cleaning Airflow Treatment.

Removes Stains In Minutes. Book A Deep Cleaning Airflow Treatment With Our Dentist / Hygienist Today.

Hygiene & Air Polish

Preventative dentistry, provided by your hygienist, plays a vital role in protecting your oral health. Regular treatments from a hygienist combined with dental check-ups can greatly improve oral health and the overall appearance of your teeth. Airflow polishing is a hygiene treatment that effectively removes stains on the front and back of teeth, leaving you with a smile to be proud of.

Elimination of Stubborn Stains

Certain foods, drinks and medications, as well as smoking, can result in stained teeth. These stubborn stains can be removed using the AIR-FLOW system, a combination of water, compressed air and fine powder particles that quickly and comfortably clean and polish teeth, even those areas that are difficult to access. This fast, comfortable method of teeth cleaning is suitable for most patients, including those with sensitive teeth, implants, bridges, veneers and crowns. So you can show off your clean smile in no time.

Benefits of Airpolish

An Airpolish treatment is a quick and easy way to have pesky general stains removed from your teeth.

  • gently removes plaque – helping to prevent gum disease
  • if done before a teeth whitening treatment can improve the overall effectiveness of the whitening
  • a gentler way to remove stains than traditional stain removal treatments, a great idea for anyone nervous of a hygiene appointment

You can just come in and have this treatment done – we’d love to see you for a clean and polish before a big event or just to help you look and feel great.

With This Week Promising To Be A ‘Scorcher’, Our Neem Dentists, Harrow/Wembley Offer Some Timely Advice.

If the weather reports are anywhere near accurate, this week we are likely to see temperatures reaching 30 degrees and possibly beyond. These temperatures are more typical of places like Rome and Athens than Harrow / Wembley!

We shouldn’t complain though given the unreliability of the British weather, but these temperatures don’t come without risks and we need to protect our teeth and gums when the weather gets hot.

Below, we offer our patients some basic but useful tips.

1 – Don’t use the weather to skip your dental appointment. If you have an appointment made for a check-up at Neem Dental Clinic, Harrow, please keep it. Postponing it until it cools down may result in a longer delay than you intend. We will do our best to see you as soon as we can when you come, so that you can get back out in the sun.

2 – Stay well hydrated. It is easy to become dehydrated in the hot weather and this is bad for our general health but also for our gums. Gum disease is more likely to be present in people with a dry mouth so try to drink plenty of water throughout the day.

3 – Curb those World Cup celebrations – beer is OK in moderation, but a combination of hot weather and a Euro Cup means that some people will drink a lot more than usual. The risks of accidents rise when this happens, and, as we know, alcohol also causes a dry mouth (see above).

4 – Remember to brush – The heat can be draining, especially if it is also humid. Tiredness can then easily cause us to skip brushing our teeth at night before we go to bed because we are ‘too tired’. You should never be too tired to brush your teeth; it only takes a few minutes and is the most essential thing you can do to avoid tooth decay.

5 – Restrict your ice creams – As well as beer, the sale of ice creams and soft drinks tend to rise during the hotter weather. We all know that these are high in sugar and will damage our teeth if eaten and drunk in excess. Try to replace soft drinks with water as much as you can and keep the number of ice creams down to a sensible level. If you notice, whilst eating ice cream or drinking anything really cold, that your teeth feel really sensitive, you could have damaged your teeth; so please make an appointment at our Neem dental clinic if you notice this.

By all means, do enjoy this rare heatwave and have a good time, but don’t forget that your teeth could suffer if you don’t take sufficient care.

Following the above guidelines is a good start, along with common sense of course. If you have any problems with your teeth during the hot weather, or at any time, please call the Neem Dental Clinic, Harrow for an appointment on 020 8423 2523.

Are your teeth ready for summer?

We have received the news we have all been waiting for at last. The announcement of the de-escalation roadmap finally leads us to our lockdown emancipation! Our efforts were not in vain, the vaccination rollout is working. There is light at the end of the tunnel and normality is on the horizon! How we have longed for this news for so long.

It seems like forever since we have been able to interact socially. We are looking forward to seeing friends, family and loved ones, embracing the warmth of Spring and indulging in our newfound freedoms. Suddenly pub lunches, family days out and dinner dates are all back on the cards and tentatively sliding into our calendars. For some, it means that long-postponed celebrations like anniversaries, weddings and birthdays can once again be scheduled, permitting a level of optimism that’s almost too good to believe.

Oral Hygiene – Harrow – Neem Dental Clinic

Oral hygiene is the practice of keeping the mouth clean, and is considered to be the best means of prevention of cavities (dental caries), gingivitis, periodontitis, and other dental disorders. It also helps to prevent bad breath (halitosis).

Oral hygiene is necessary for all persons to maintain the health of their teeth and mouth. Healthy teeth have fewer cavities. They are clean and have minimal or no plaque deposits. Healthy gums are pink and firm.

Oral hygiene consists of both personal and professional care. Dental X-rays (radiographs) are often performed as part of routine professional examinations.

Why do I need to see a Hygienist?

Regular tooth cleaning by the dentist or dental hygienist is important to remove plaque that may develop even with careful brushing and flossing, especially in areas that are difficult for a patient to reach on his own at home. Professional cleaning includes tooth scaling and tooth polishing and debridement if too much tartar has accumulated. This involves the use of various instruments or devices to loosen and remove deposits from the teeth. Most dentists recommend having the teeth professionally cleaned every six months.

Even if you do a great job of cleaning your teeth yourself and are religious about using dental floss, you still need professional cleanings. Dental hygienists use special techniques, instruments, and their professional training to complete oral hygiene that is impossible to do yourself. In addition, these professionals will examine your mouth as well as your teeth.

AIR ABRASION

Air abrasion is a drill free technique, which can be performed by your hygiene therapist. It works through a combination of air, sodium bi-carbonate and a jet of water to remove external staining caused through everyday things such as tea, coffee, red wine and smoking. It produces great results without any risk of damage to your teeth. Completely painless, Air Abrasion will significantly improve tooth staining, leaving your mouth clean and fresh after treatment.https://neemdentalclinic.co.uk/service/dental-hygiene/

Scaling, Air abrasion (sandblasting) , Polishing and Fluoride finish

Step 1: Scaling

Your dentist in Neem Dental Clinic will remove the hardest calculus on your teeth with an electric scaler. This instrument has a fine tip that vibrates at a high speed for ultimate precision. It also sprays a cooling mist of water to help scrape off tartar and wash away debris.

Step 2: Air abrasion (sandblasting)

Are your teeth badly stained? We use air abrasion to eradicate stains and brighten your smile. This technique is performed by a machine that emits aluminium oxide particles to dislodge plaque and tartar. A dental dam is used to protect any teeth that don’t require air abrasion.

Step 3: Hand tools

Our skilled dentists in Neem Dental Clinic also use a variety of hand tools (called scalers and curettes) to reach those more hidden places around the teeth. The tools come in different shapes to suit your teeth, making it easier to remove smaller tartar deposits and smooth out the surfaces.

Step 4: Polishing

Your treatment is completed with a polish. A spinning rubber cup is filled with a gritty paste (called prophylaxis) and held up to your teeth. The cup spins against the teeth and polishes them until they’re smooth and shiny. Your teeth will look and feel a lot cleaner.

Step 5: Fluoride finish

Our dental practice in Neem Dental Clinic can also strengthen your teeth by applying a fluoride coating. It’s designed to restore the enamel with essential minerals.
